The Placentia Area Community Connections Housing Coalition is a registered not for profit group of volunteers of varying backgrounds. The committee works to prevent homelessness and improve access to safe, affordable housing in the Placentia/ Cape Shore area.
The committee also advocates for government funding and have been recently successful in obtaining funding to hire a Housing Support Worker for the area. The Housing Support Worker is available to assist individuals with any housing support required and help navigate the system for government programs available to ensure safe, affordable housing is an option for everyone. 3 Full-Service Bays & 3200 Sq ft. Warehouse. Our service bays are complete service centers with 5-ton cranes which allow for safe lifting practices and provides our technicians plenty of space to work safely and out of the elements to complete your service on time and safely. We have a custom test stand up to 150HP allowing us to verify your product is functioning as designed and meeting the proper specifications. We also provide and oil flushing units, and our shop flushing unit allows us to condition your oil to a cleanliness level that you choose; we also have mobile flushing units so we can come to you. With our dehydration unit (HydacTM FAMH) we can remove both free-standing and saturated water from your hydraulic system. It is an offline system that allows for use while your system is in operation or while not in use. Our pressure chamber is used to test hydraulic lines up to 20,000 psi, so that the hose can be certified or re-certified for use to the standard you require.
We are a complete hose and fitting center with a full compliment of carbon and stainless-steel fittings offered in both standard and metric sizes. We carry more inventory than any other vendor on the island and we have 17 re-seller locations across the province to service your business anywhere. We are the exclusive Greenline hose and fitting retailer in the province. We are also a full-service machine and cylinder shop. With over 40 years of machining and repair experience our technicians are well positioned to meet your needs. We offer 4 lathes and the only TuxcoTM cylinder repair bench in the province. Our service centre includes equipment and personnel to fabricate parts or components necessary for repairs on boom trucks, dump truck, excavators, and any other machinery where hydraulic cylinders are used. We have a 2-acre lay down yard for all your equipment needs.

Mega Marine INC Help provide experienced highly trained and skilled captains and crew to run three well maintained vessels. A comprehensive maintenance program allows us to keep the vessels in like new condition. Our safety program and developed safe practices, has allowed us to operate with zero accidents, zero down time and zero negative impact on our environment, for over thirty years.
With an experienced machinist, millwright mechanic, and marine engineer on staff, we will gladly fabricate (in our own machine shop) or add equipment to the vessels to suit the client's needs when possible. Added equipment is engineer designed and tested by a certified mechanical engineering firm per OHS requirements. Lifting gear is load tested and rated with the established safe working load. Standards set by transport Canada and workplace NL is strictly adhered to.

Newco Metal & Auto Recycling Ltd. has been partnering with communities in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1985.
Beginning with those early years, Newco has developed longstanding relationships with over 100 municipalities in the province, from New Harbour to Port Blandford to Labrador City, and everywhere in between.
We support these relationships with a year-round operation that visits each community at least once in a cycle. We remove any accessible scrap metal at no charge, and compensate each town with an honorarium.
Some of the waste metals collected by Newco gets passed along to local companies, like Labco Foundry in Long Harbour. The rest gets exported to another fully certified and environmentally regulated recycler.

Placentia Area Harbour Authority is a non for-profit organization responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of the Jerseyside port. Their primary role is to ensure that the harbor is safe, efficient, and accessible for all users, including commercial, fishing, and recreational vessels. Their current board members include Kurtis Kerrivan, John Walsh Jr, Buck Pearson, Bill Pomroy, and Calvin Kerrivan. The authority typically oversees a range of activities related to the infrastructure and regulations governing the harbor's operations such as:
Port Infrastructure Management for maintaining and upgrading docks and breakwaters to ensure that vessels can dock safely and efficiently.
Environmental Protection for managing environmental practices to minimize pollution and other negative impacts, such as waste disposal so that it complies with regulations.
Emergency Management in developing and implementing plans for dealing with accidents, oil spills, fires, or other emergencies in the port area.
Financial Management for setting rates for the use of the harbor's facilities and services, ensuring financial sustainability, and supporting growth and additional services to the community.
A new initiative the past 3 years includes the Placentia Area Harbour Authority displaying a boat lighting event that is showcased during the month of December for the community to enjoy.

Follow the link to the official website of the Placentia Area Historical Society (PAHS, a nonprofit and registered charity) and the O'Reilly House Museum. The site has been set up to provide information about the Society and the Museum and to promote the history of the Placentia area (Ancient French Capital). Here you will learn about the region's history, the O'Reilly House Museum and other projects to promote that history. You will also become aware of what is available in the way of historic sites, materials or artifacts.
Placentia (or Placencia and Plaisance as it was once called ), a community on the east side of Placentia Bay and west side of the Avalon Peninsula in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, has a great history of occupation going back to the 1500s. There are reports of early visits from the Basque, Portuguese, Spanish, aboriginals and others. Besides being a onetime capital (1662 to 1713) for the French in Newfoundland it also has an interesting history associated with the English (who also used it is as their capital), the Irish and, in more recent times, the Americans. There are a number of locations of old forts, one of which has been developed as the Castle Hill National Historic Site.

Stepping Stones
Family Resource Centres (FRCs) are community-based organizations that deliver programs to promote positive parent-child interactions intended to support healthy child development. They offer a variety of programs and services to families with children ages 0-6. They provide a play-based, developmentally appropriate environment for children and a safe and supportive setting for parents. Programs are flexible to meet community needs and may include:
- Drop-in programs focusing on parent-child interaction
- Group training and parent support groups (e.g. Nobody’s Perfect)
- Resource materials on parenting, child development, wellness and community services
- Lending Libraries such as toys and books
- Exchange Services such as clothing

Port of Argentia is a heavy industrial seaport providing support to key industry sectors such as offshore and renewable energy, marine transportation, aquaculture and mining. The Port’s marine terminal features over 430 metres of docking facilities with up to 11 metres draft at three berths. Over 40 businesses operate at Argentia providing key economic activity and local employment.
The Port has established North America’s first monopile marshalling port in support of US offshore wind development.
The Port has partnered with Pattern Energy to develop Argentia Renewables, a proposed 1.3-Gigawatt renewable energy project to establish a wind-powered green fuels production facility that will see carbon zero green ammonia exported to European markets.
Argentia is the construction site of the Cenovus Energy concrete gravity structure for West White Rose Project.
The Cooper Cove Marine Terminal Expansion Project at Argentia, scheduled for completion by Q2 2027, will see capital infrastructure investment exceeding $100M, including a concrete caisson dock with a minimum 13 metre draft featuring the latest innovations in decarbonization and port electrification.

The mission of the Royal Canadian Legion Dr. William Collingwood Memorial Branch 33 Placentia is to serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country. Branch 33 coordinates the annual Remembrance Day (November 11) and Memorial Day (July 1) services in Placentia. The Royal Canadian Legion Building located on Veterans Way in Placentia features an auditorium which is available for rental. It is an ideal space for community events, social events such as weddings, birthday parties, family gatherings and more. Catering services are available. The building also includes a bar which is open seven days a week. The bar area features an interesting display of military related artifacts.

When in operation, this highly technical, leading edge, nickel processing plant will be a global leader directly employing approximately 500 people within the plant’s operations, and hundreds of jobs in plant support positions. Procurement expenditures to support plant operations are estimated at $125 – $150 million annually throughout the life of the project, unadjusted for inflation.

Today, you can join us on the 5 km trail from The Park to The Gulch with the Crow Hill at the 1/2 way mark. Stop and relax while you enjoy the beautiful view of the harbour and our boundary, Isaac's Head with all its amazing history. Stop at the Annie Healy Site and remember our veterans, where you can look out in the bay to where the Atlantic Charter was signed in 1941. Visit the Little Falls where you can sit on the deck and listen to the water falling.
Fox Harbour is a wonderful place to call home or just to visit, and everyone is always welcome.
