O’Reilly House Museum

Built in 1902 by W. J. Ellis, the O’Reilly House was home to multiple magistrates in Placentia, and was one of the finest homes in Placentia at the time. During your visit, take notes of the high ceilings, fine craftsmanship, and stained glass. The magistrates who lived here, William O’Reilly and then William Linegar, hosted many events, some of which included royal guests, such as Prince William Henry.

The O’Reilly House was restored by the Placentia Area Historical Society and open to the public in 1989. Currently, the O’Reilly House tours through the home into 8 different rooms, some displaying the way of life in the early 1900s, and others containing pieces of Placentia’s history, including resettlement, information about the Argentia Naval Base, the Basque, French, and many more.
